If you are here, then you have been seeing the beta version of Revision Time. While it was great for a while, we recognise that things must change in order to improve your experience. So, stick with me, and I will try to explain what is happening. As ever, if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out at contact@revision-time.com. Now, let’s dive in to the changes I am making to this site!

WordPress

For the last 2 years, this site has been using WordPress as its framework provider, which is a great way to start something off of the ground! However, over that time, we have begun to notice that it is slow. I mean realllllly slow. So, to speed up the site, we are migrating from WordPress to another provider. This is a great way to help speed up the website and to help you to cram as much as possible before exams!

The new site will look… different

So, hear me out on this one. The new website design will be only a single page, with all of our tools, subject information and suchlike being migrated to a web application. This app will mean that things will not break over time, and the way to code tools will become much easier. However, since it is a web app, it will require zero downloads and be updated automatically with new tools, but with much faster loading times. We are working on this as I write this post and we are hoping to release the new app in the next few months, in advance of your May/June exams.

Accounts will no longer work

Here’s a key point, so we need to get serious for a moment. We will be changing the way accounts are hosted, what information they store and will be no longer relying on third parties to host our accounts. This means that your account will no longer work when the new Revision Time. I know, I know, this is very annoying. However, we want to be able to tell you confidently what data we do and do not store about you, and with third party providers, there is no way this will work. Following the migration, all accounts will be deleted from the old site, so we have no old email lists or anything.

The same is true for subscriptions. All subscriptions will be deactivated during the migration, with appropriate refunds being given depending on how much time you have remaining is.

A new theme

Same colours, different fonts! We will be changing our theme to increase readability and to give Revision Time a new professional look!

Same name, Same tools, Same values, Same address

Some things never change! I am a student myself still, and as such I am still bearing your thoughts and feelings in mind when designing this. The new website will still have:

Conclusion

So there we have it. The new Revision Time will be rolling out in the next few months and has been developed with some tester’s feedback in mind, and we are still designing this for students, by students. I have been one of the brains behind the development of this new website and it looks EPIC! (I mean, so does this one, but like even more EPIC!)

Thank you for being part of the Revision Time community and we will hopefully see you on our new website very very soon!
